Why bother with drawing and art?

ART 

Sometimes it is the attention to detail that relaxes me. Absolute concentration on shape and form lets the rest of my brain have a nap.

 

With black and white sketches there is the added vacation from color stimulation. 
The time spent drawing is 'alone time' but in such a different way from writing.

 Other times I want paint and splashes and whimsical pictures. At those times I head out to 'paint night' for time with other painters.

At these times I find myself laughing while I work.  And sometimes I work in yarn making crazy hats for kids.

I always go back to my writing refreshed.
